PROJECT PURPOSE

Living Arts is known for showcasing groundbreaking and diverse artistic practices within and for the Tulsa community. As an organization, we strive to develop and reimagine the definition of contemporary art as one that challenges our audience, not only through material expression, but through critical engagement with a history of visual and performance art practices. We focus on showcasing artwork that incorporates a high caliber for research methodologies, social conditions, and subjective experience; artwork that invites the viewer into dialogue, yet requires the viewer to consider today?s immense and complex cultural fabric. Exhibitions will range in length, and feature a variety of educational opportunities for our community through workshops, virtual programming, take-home art kits, camps, and so much more. We hope that this shift in scheduling and focus on more culturally integrated artistic visions will help to heighten awareness of present issues and conditions within contemporary artistic practice. Our upcoming exhibitions will cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to Indigenous culture, surviving domestic abuse and how to break generational molds.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Living Arts of Tulsa serves a vast population, impacting over 125,000 people annually from all walks of life. With our location being on the edge of the historic Greenwood district as well as being located centrally in Tulsa, we are able to serve our community through a variety of programming and workshops with no barrier to entry. During the pandemic, our community was unable to come together and celebrate one another. This has caused a large gap in the awareness of not only contemporary art practices, but also in the education that is shared about cultural differences and walks of life.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Living Arts of Tulsa will be measuring performance and success through a series of surveys, focus group, workshops, and general attendance data collection during each event.
