Town of Avant, Oklahoma

PROJECT PURPOSE

This request is to recover Lost Public Sector revenue due to COVID. From March 1, 2018 to Feb 29, 2020 the Town of Avant collected Court related fees to include, Court Fines and costs in the amount of $32,857.42. From March 1, 2020 to Feb 28 2022 the Town of Avant collected $4,773.00. This was directly affected by the COVID pandemic. As court revenue is the largest income for the Town, this loss caused a major impact to our community. We are a community of 320 people with no retail income to fall back on. I am requesting ARPA funds to make up the difference in lost revenue in the amount of $28,084.42. Thank you for your consideration.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Avant is a small community of 320 people. We have no retail sources of income and the closest towns to us are 10 to 15 miles away. We rely greatly on this income for road repairs, any improvements to the town such as park and community center upkeep and upgrades as well as contributing our portion toward grant participation. Due to the loss of this income, Avant has not been able to do the day-to-day upkeep that needs to be accomplished to maintain our infrastructure and public areas.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

In the past this revenue was used for park upkeep, local road repair, community center improvements as well as other community related projects. Any progress being made in these areas has come to a standstill. With this funding the progress will be almost immediately recognizable and will continue to benefit the community for years to come.
