PROJECT PURPOSE

To improve the quality of life and independence through food assistance and basic service and needs of our elderly population in Logan County

EVIDENCE

The funds would go directly to food assistance and essential requests by seniors of Logan County. We have no paid staff; we only operate by use of volunteers and the Logan County Aging Service. The funding we generate goes directly out to the community. We require those in need to fill out a form for assistance to be reviewed by the board of directors to insure we help as many seniors as we can with assistance as well as having the funds to provide meals weekly for the year.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

We deliver meals to about 550 seniors monthly, Emergency food boxes are given to those served by the Council as well as those served by the Logan County Council on Aging. Financial assistance is given to any senior in Logan County despite whether they are signed up for the food assistance program. It may be that they need their propane filled or assistance with medication until they can work with the manufacturer or doctor to find a resolution. Our goal is to resolve issues for seniors so they can stay healthy, safe and independently at home.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

We are requesting funding to purchase food and assistance for seniors of Logan County. Our needs have increased for items such as emergency food boxes, shelf staple items and frozen meals. The increased request for assistance with utility bills, propane services, and medication has become a financial strain on our organization as well as on our seniors' daily lives.
