PROJECT PURPOSE

The project will address deficiencies in our facility that regulate air quality and an uninterrupted power supply. This 2 part request is comprised of purchasing air scrubbers to attach to our existing furnaces (4) that will filter all air to remove airborne bacteria/ virus particles. During the last surge of COVID, due to power outages, we needed to relocate our emergency youth shelter to a local motel which put our clients at great risk due to cleanliness and lack of social distancing. We also had to cancel court ordered counselling sessions for our substance abuse clients. To address power outages we need to purchase two Generac back up power generators- one for each of our buildings. By initiating these facility upgrades we will be able to better insure the safety of our shelter residents and continue to provide counseling services in a safer environment.

EVIDENCE

The power backup systems will insure that we can continue to provide services for our State Agency partners in the event of power outages. In the last calendar year we had approximately 20 days of interrupted service. With the installation of air scrubbers we will upgrade the air quality in our shelter and counseling center to the standard of area hospitals.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Our project request will benefit our substance abuse treatment counselling clients as well as the children in State's custody that are residents of our 24-7-365 days a year shelter. Almost all of our substance abuse clients live at or below the poverty level and during the pandemic we provided support, supplies, and a way to continue court mandated counselling.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Project performance will be evaluated by capturing the amount of reduced sick leave and due to better air quality it is anticipated that the number of cancelled counseling sessions (no shows) will also decrease.
