PROJECT PURPOSE

? Drummond?s museum will remove the old layers of shingles on their museum and replace them with material that will withstand the weather and secure the original structure of the building. This will allow the museum, a popular tourist attraction, to reopen and employ local residents.

EVIDENCE

? ?Museums have the power to create unity on both a social and political level, but also on a local one. Local museums are able to provide a sense of community and place by celebrating a collective heritage, offering a great way to get to know the history of a particular area.? https://www.museumnext.com/article/why-we-need-museums-now-more-than-ever/ ? ??this country will always need food and energy. As long as rural places supply the land where food grows and energy is produced, communities will need to exist to support the people working there.? https://www.hcn.org/articles/state-of-change-why-save-the-small-town

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

? The Drummond Museum has historically been an attraction when other local events occur in the town. The guest book shows that people visit during school alumni events and town events like ?Drummond Days?. Since the museum has closed, families have been unable to tour the museum. The pandemic has delayed needed repairs to the roof, causing lost cooperative opportunities and negatively impacting the community. The Town of Drummond is actively encouraging economic growth. A new business opened near the museum and would benefit from the traffic during tours.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

? The Town of Drummond is familiar with the Compliance and Reporting Guidance for State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds and understands our reporting responsibilities. All documents related to this project will be stored for reports. The reporting elements from the ARPA Reporting Fact Sheet will be used to report work completed on this project. All documentation will be kept, organized, and updated by NODA and the town clerk will complete the reports together, ensuring all required documentation is reported. ? Project performance will be measured by the reopening of the museum once the roofing repairs are complete. The Town of Drummond plans to host many events if the museum is repaired. These events include A newsletter informing people of activities and events within Drummond, hosting contests during Drummond Days that relate to the museum, introducing an event called: Cultural Exchange where residents share their cultures and offer a Hispanic language class to bring the community closer, and fundraisers to remodel the interior of the museum.
