PROJECT PURPOSE

Fort Cobb?s Main Street area has been somewhat vacant because of lack of businesses. Recently, citizens have purchased the run-down structures and created new businesses. We have a health clinic, apartments for elderly, the community center where the Senior Nutrition Center is held and is a voting precinct. In addition, Main Street has our only bank, café, hardware store, and the City Hall where citizens pay their utility bills, attend Trustee Meetings and a new pocket park is going in where an old building had fallen. Persons with a disability and senior residents are having difficulty accessing before mentioned business and apartments. It is the Town?s desire to have ADA compliant sidewalks. We have citizens whose only modes of transportation are to walk, motorized wheelchairs, or manual wheelchairs. The businesses in town have requested new and more appropriate sidewalks. People are beginning to get out after being cooped up due to COVID-19 quarantines. New sidewalks, will boost moral and encourage commerce. Please, consider awarding funds to refurbish the sidewalks for the Town of Fort Cobb to be able to aid those who must go to the health clinic where they do COVID Testing, the bank, City Hall and other businesses.

EVIDENCE

I will be uploading pictures of our current sidewalks and curbs.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

We have a considerable population of Native Americans and another large population that attend the Technology Center in our city limits. In addition, we have another considerable population of low income residents, as well as elderly and disabled. During the pandemic we have residents who lost jobs, who had to quit jobs to care for sick relatives and many who had to work remotely. The Town lost tax revenue when businesses shut down. We are working hard to bring our town back to life. Have repaired sidewalks on our Main Street is a step toward reaching that goal.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING
