PROJECT PURPOSE

The City of Norman has built a large fiber optic network for network connectivity to all major buildings and operations in the city as well as most every traffic signal. The Streets Maintenance building in the City of Norman is a major fiber hub for these traffic signals. The facility is not supported by a backup generator, which means during a disaster or power outage, none of these signals are supported and must all be manually adjusted and checked.

EVIDENCE

100% up time during outages to continued automated services is absolutely more efficient than manual intervention during an outage.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The diverse population in the City of Norman Oklahoma, from the wealthiest to those living close to poverty, will benefit from this power generator project. The ability to safely travel during power outage is crucial for all residents in the City of Norman, especially public safety workers and first responders. All citizens suffered reduced services from the pandemic, and because of lock downs in the community many small business owners suffered the worst and were forced to close their doors, leaving many jobless during a very trying time nationally.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Once implemented the generator will keep the building powered during outages completing 100% uptime which is the goal. The project will be measured like out other generator installs, in construction milestones.
