6-12 months
IMPACTED COUNTIES
Creek; Osage; Pawnee; Tulsa
PROJECT PURPOSE
To train public servants in proper use of PPE, SCBA, Rescue and fire suppression techniques. This project would serve a 4 county area of volunteer firefighters, para-medics and emt's. This training center would provide live burn, forcible entry, high angle rope rescue and ladder training. Without this volunteers only receive live burn on their completion of Fire Fighter 1. Most volunteer firefighters do not have opportunity to train in live burn training centers and are therefore inexperienced when confronted with interior fire attack and rescue. This project would provide educational services to around 100 volunteer fire departments from the four counties.
EVIDENCE
Firefighters who do not have adequate training in a live burn scenario are not comfortable in a house fire where they need to operate by memory and save lives. Failure to adequately train has been shown to cost firefighters lives nationwide.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The cities of Prue, Sand Springs, Mannford, as well as their associated unincorporated areas surrounding these cities.
