PROJECT PURPOSE

COVID Response Drive Through Good Distribution (pandemic loss of revenue application). This program was a low-touch, socially distance dual-purpose program mobile initiative. In conjunction with local partners, Food On The Move helps created business for local restaurants and food trucks while providing access to meals and groceries to those who currently live within a Food Desert in Tulsa County during the COVID-19 outbreak. March 2020, Food On The Move, Inc. responded to the impact the COVID-19 crisis had on those living in food-insecure areas of Tulsa. We have increased from two events a month to multiple events a week, to the need of the community we serve. During the height of the pandemic, we distrusted over 4,500,000 pounds of food to 750,000 individuals. Weekly serving families with meals, groceries, information about health services, COVID relief funding, vaccines, census information, voter registration, and other vital information to help the community. Even after Tulsa began to open up we still served the community with multiple events, providing food and resources to assist families with the harsh impact COVID-19 had on them. During this time we partnered with over 100 different local agencies to serve Tulsa in the best possible way.

EVIDENCE

This application is for loss of revenue for the nonprofit Food On The Move, for our community response during the pandemic. Our program allowed 1000's of people to weekly have consistent access to food and other essential resources during an unprecedented season in our Nation's history. We have documented stories and data to show the impact we made in the loves of those we served.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The program provided groceries and other essential services to those living in a food desert or food insecure areas of Tulsa. We focused our efforts on dedication areas where the community is known to be underserved. We served in North Tulsa, Turley, and various Tulsa public housing authority apartments to name a few.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The program allowed families to eat healthily (including fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy items, milk, and protein), receive pre-cooked meals, know where to find other assistance (such as medical, rent assistance and several others), and relieve some of the stress from the increased financial burden brought on by the pandemic. Every guest fills out a registration card, enabling us to verify we meet the needs and serve in the most effective area and gather data. The success was meeting a critical need during the pandemic.
