PROJECT PURPOSE
Provide free, quality, comprehensive healthcare to the uninsured and underserved population in the greater Tulsa area regardless of age, race, education, or sexual orientation. We operate 46 monthly primary care mobile medical clinics at 8 sites and one fixed location. We have retinopathy screening, women's health care, and chronic disease management clinics.
EVIDENCE
Nationally Oklahoma ranks 46th in the nation for overall health, 40th for obesity, 49th for deaths due to cardiovascular disease, 36th for prevalence of diabetes and 49th for the percentage of the uninsured population (2019 America's Health Rankings). Our clinics treat anyone that does not have health insurance free of charge. We have insurance screeners at our clinics to assist patients that may be eligible for insurance or medicaid.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
Many people in the greater Tulsa area lost there jobs due to the pandemic and found themselves without insurance coverage for the first time. In addition, there are many barriers to healthcare such as language, transportation, access to affordable medication, and insufficient income to pay for needed medical services.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
We use statistics from our Electronic Medical Records to track six health improvement outcomes. Some of the outcome goals are: an HbA1c of less than 7 for our diabetic patients; a blood pressure of less than 140/80 for our hypertensive patients; and 80% colorectal cancer screening compliance for all patients.
