PROJECT PURPOSE

The purpose of the project is to increase the number of certified Long Term Care Nurse Aides, Certified Medication Aides, and Phlebotomists by 116 individuals by June 2023.

EVIDENCE

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that overall employment of nursing assistants and orderlies is projected to grow 8 percent from 2020 to 2030, about as fast as the average for all occupations. As our population continues to age, nurse aides will be needed to care for an increasing number of individuals who have health issues. Employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 22 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than average for all occupations.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Our rural area and elder population present a unique impact when considering health care. Long Term Nurse Aides and Certified Medication Aides are critical to vibrant living, whether in a communal residence, nursing home, or an individual living alone. As our people live longer, more assistance by qualified workers is needed to provide medical assistance.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Project performance will include the number of students enrolled in each class and the number of certifications successfully obtained by students.
