PROJECT PURPOSE
Provide Substance Abuse recovery and mental health services for Leflore County and the greater area. Also, meals to the homeless and elderly. We have purchased land and now are ready to build a recovery house for women and community building to feed those in need.
EVIDENCE
We already serve the community on a smaller scale with an application tracking system for assistance with food, utilities, clothing donations, recovery resources and referrals. Also state statistics for Leflore county.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
Source: poison.health.ok.gov, there are currently no substance abuse recovery facilities for women other than Choctaw Nation in Talihina (for native americans only), Females were nearly 3 times more likely do die than males, from 2007-2018, the unintentional overdose rate increased nearly 700%. LeFlore county has the 12th highest death rate in the state (2013-2017). Many people lost their jobs due to the pandemic, then losing homes and vehicles due to no income. Many now suffer from mental health and substance abuse problems.
