PROJECT PURPOSE

To renovate and operate the historic Rook Theater as a cultural, educational, and community event center to benefit all of Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Plans include: large open floor configuration for multi-purpose facility, collaboration commercial kitchen for local small business use, co-working stations with broadband access, agricultural, natural resource, and wildlife meeting/demonstration space as well as facilities for native American cultural shows, education and exhibits.

Community Action Plan completed through Cheyenne FFA, SWODA and 35 community business owners and leaders.


POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Our community is located in rural western Oklahoma. The economic drivers in Roger Mills County are school/sporting events, community events involving county wide gatherings, livestock shows, county fairs, town celebrations and wildlife hunting on National grasslands. Since Covid cancelled ALL local events starting March 2020, the economic impact has been devastating.

Project performance will be measured by number of events booked quarterly during regularly scheduled board meetings.
