PROJECT PURPOSE
The purpose of the project is to replace water and sewer infrastructure along South 5th Street. This sewer infrastructure serves a majority of the businesses and residents in Marietta. The project will also reshape side drains, alleviating stormwater drainage issues, and will resurface South 5th Street subsequent to repairs.
EVIDENCE
Public works experience an increased number of blockages and leaks in this area due to failures in the dilapidated infrastructure.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The poverty rate for persons living in Marietta is 25.2%, more than 39 percent greater than the poverty level across the entire state of Oklahoma. During the pandemic, as a result of closed schools and persons working from home, water usage surpassed safety thresholds.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
Project performance will be measured by a reduction in incidents of leaks and blockages, by a decrease in maintenance and repair costs, and by increases in water and sewer capacities.
