PROJECT PURPOSE
Community Transition Program - avoidance of Congregate Care for Qualified Youth
EVIDENCE
Reducing congregate care situations will reduce the constant exposure of youth with each other and staff within a confined housing situation.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
This program will allow youth to continue reentry treatment at home freeing up a bed for youth with greater therapeutic needs. This can also be used for youth with COVID-19 that are reaching the end of their congregate treatment and can continue treatment while in their home setting.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
Project performance will be measured through OJA's Juvenile On-line tracking system. There are many situations where the youth is better off being treated in their home as a type of "out patient" treatment. This is not only cost effective, but for some youth, the risk of associating with bad habits being picked up from peers. This funding has the advantage of reducing risk of COVID-19 exposure, but also reduces the risk of emerging from congregate care with an increased risk of further juvenile justice penetration.
