PROJECT PURPOSE

The Town of Gans is in dire need of improvements to our water system. These replacements are essential to the system's ability to continue to produce adequate quality and quantity of potable water to the customers. The town must replace 4500 ft of Transite line with PVC, and add additional storage for emergency situations. The Transite line that is currently feeding water to our community is a decommissioned product. The original lines have been delivering water to Gans since 1967. Transite lines have been replaced with PVC because of the health hazards due to Asbestos. As our only access from our only water storage facility, if this line were to break our entire community would be out of water for several months, if even repairable. This would cause the entire town of suffer, possibly beyond repair without funding. As this cost would be too significant for the Town to bear.

EVIDENCE

I don't for see any interventions in the proposed project.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The existing water system has deteriorated over the years and needs major repairs. The Town has unrepairable main supply line (Transite) made of Asbestos, low pressure areas, additional valves and fire hydrants are needed to improve the system and secure the Town's water supply. The total water users in the Town of Gans and community averages 235-310 customers. 125 within the city limits, and 185 rural. The area of water service consists of Gans city limits and the Krumpe Mountain area. The usage ranges from 70,000 -35,000 gallons per day. The residential and commercial growth has been halted due to current water conditions.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Project performance will be measured by the additional capability to expand residential and commercial properties with our water district. This new line and storage will ensure reliable, safe, and clean water for the current and future customers of the Town of Gans.
