PROJECT PURPOSE

Refurbishment and revitalization of the three of the City?s existing water towers. The Rodeo Grounds Tower is vital to the city in that it is one of the towers used to supply the school and hospital areas. The 12th Street Water Tower also serves the school buildings as well as the North side of town. These towers not only supply clean water to the residences and buildings in the area, they are also vital in keeping a constant supply of water for fighting both buildings and wildfires in the area. The Historic Frisco Water Tower at the Historic Train Depot is a symbol of years past and an important part of state and Bristow history. It is one of very few of these types of towers remaining. This will be an important contribution to the 100-year anniversary of Route 66 in 2026. These projects provide a vital contribution to the health and safety as well as history and tourism within our city.

EVIDENCE

Water towers provide a constant supply of water for things such as firefighting or use in homes. Without these, water must be pumped and is a less efficient form of distributing water. The water towers hold a ready supply of water for use in homes and firefighting. As well as firefighting and drinking a steady clean supply of water is vital for sanitation and the combating of diseases. Each foot of the water tower provides approximately .43 psi to the system. As other Route 66 attractions bring visitors to other towns our Frisco Water Tower would do the same.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The Rodeo and 12th Street Water Towers serve not only the community of Bristow as well as rural communities such as Slick and residents in non-incorporated areas around Bristow. With Creek County having a poverty level of 15% and Bristow having a poverty level of 26.3% a constant clean supply of water is a necessity for people who otherwise might not have access to it. Also, with our poverty level many homes are fire dangers due to lack of upkeep and other factors that require firefighters to have a constant supply of water to prevent the loss of life and property. Our community has been impacted by the pandemic in that many jobs have been lost as well as deaths due to the pandemic. A constant clean source of water is essential for cleaning which will reduce the spread of diseases. The Frisco Tower keeps history alive and would bring visitors to the area which can bring more jobs and help combat the effects of the pandemic. This also solidifies a piece of our infrastructure for future housing and business opportunities within and around the city.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The measure of the project will be the increased water capacity that will be provided by these projects. This is both in usable water for homes and businesses as well as having a constant supply of water for firefighting. The measure of the Frisco tower will be immeasurable in that it saves our history and will bring visitors to our city generating an economic impact. Another measure would be how this allows our city to grow bringing housing and businesses to our community and the state
