PROJECT PURPOSE

The Town of Locust Grove has recently completed repairs on our intake dock which includes pumps, dock repairs, structural repairs and replacement of 1500 feet of raw water line. We are currently in the construction phase of replacing our Water Treatment Plant and increasing our water capacity from 500,000 gallons a day to 1 million a day. For this project we need to replace the remaining 3000 feet of raw water line which would completely replace the line from the intake dock to the new Water Treatment plant. We currently cannot locate the exact pathway of our current waterline as we are unable to find it on any maps. By replacing the remaining raw water lines it would be beneficial to our water customers for their safety and health and we would know exactly where the line is located for future repairs. It would remove any weaknesses we have in that segment of our water distribution system.

EVIDENCE

The replacement of this line is necessary for the safety, health and well being of our water customers. At this time if the current line was to break it would take a while to locate and repair which would mean that all of our water customers would be without water and sewer which would put their health and safety in jeopardy.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

During the pandemic our community was hit hard because a lot of our customers lost their jobs or were unable to work. We didn't shut off any water to our customers because of their welfare and health. We had to put projects on hold because of lack of supplies, materials and labor. A lot of our water customers are on fixed incomes and low poverty families.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

As the line is replaced this would be programmed into our GPS system for future repairs and replacement of lines. We will be able to download information to software system. With the replacement of the lines and the new Water Treatment Plant we will increase capacity for water and grow our water system to include more customers.
