PROJECT PURPOSE
Studies have shown that COVID-19 is directly related to metabolic issues. This project will aid Troopers in maintaining physical fitness thereby reducing the severity of COVID-19 symptoms should they contract the virus. The Bear Cave CrossFit training system allows for a virtual personal trainer to assist, with specialized fitness equipment, with the physical fitness needs of State Troopers. The system provides physical fitness training allowing for social distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This project will equip ten (10) satellite locations (Troop Headquarters) with the training system.
EVIDENCE
Many studies show severe COVID-19 symptoms are related to poor metabolic health. Healthy eating and physical fitness can reduce the symptoms of COVID-19. Troopers are finding it hard to maintain their physical fitness due to the restrictions implemented because of COVID-19. This system will elevate the problem if and when their local gyms have to close because of COVID or other viruses.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
Troopers are first-responders. Being a first-responder, they must be ready for any situation from the non-confrontational contact to a high-risk event. When the public is in need of law enforcement, officers need to be ready, mentally and physically, to respond.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
The statement of work will consist of installation of the Bear Cave CrossFit software and enrollment of Troopers. Project performance will be measured by acceptance of installation, configuration, and confirmation of system operation.
