PROJECT PURPOSE

This is an ongoing project that will provide the engineering design and construction necessary to re-drill two groundwater wells that have infrastructure damage and are no longer working as active wells. Re-drilling these wells will allow for an increase supply of approximately 470 gallons per minute of water during peak demand and times of drought.

EVIDENCE

The Water Conservation Plan and Strategic Water Supply Plan created by the NUA illustrate the need for increased water with increases in the population. Drilling new wells and re-drilling wells that have experienced infrastructure failure will help provide enough drinking water for the City during peak demands and periods of drought.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

All citizens in Norman will benefit from this project by providing addition sources of potable water.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Once the project is complete, NUA will conduct initial inspections and monitoring for parameters required by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality before activation. Once approved and activated by ODEQ the NUA will continue to monitor the wells and their constituents on a regular basis as required by ODEQ.
