PROJECT PURPOSE

The proposed project would improve the reliability of the public safety infrastructure in the City of Owasso by replacing outdated outdoor warning devices throughout the City . The current warning system, installed in 2004, consists of sixteen Acoustic Technology Incorporated High Powered Speaker Station, each providing electronic signaling with an effective range of 4,400 to 5,000 feet. The proposed project will replace the warning devices and the existing SCADA system to fill existing gaps in coverage and maximize the effective ranges of the units. This SCADA system would be capable of multi-tone, voice and automatic activation upon National Weather Service Warning issuance as well as remote activation.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The City of Owasso as a whole will benefit from the replacement of the outdoor warning devices. This includes a large population who has been impacted by the pandemic over the past two years. An improvement to the City will improve the lives of all of the citizens of the City of Owasso.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The measure of performance for this project will be an increase in the coverage area for the outdoor warning system. Currently, there are gaps in the coverage area (see attachment for study and map). Once this project is complete, there will be a reduction in the gaps in the coverage area, creating a more reliable and more effective outdoor warning system.
