PROJECT PURPOSE

The Department of Public Safety, Driver License Services Division is seeking to develop an on-line portal in which citizens can apply for a disability placard. Current requests must be mailed or hand-delivered to the Department's headquarters in Oklahoma City. Current processing time for applications is twenty (20) days. The portal will be designed to allow anyone to apply for the placard on-line and to reduce the processing time.

EVIDENCE

Many states have moved to on-line portals with success for customer facing services. The on-line portal will eliminate the need for any Oklahoma citizen to appear in person at a DPS office, thereby reducing the potential to spread COVID-19 or other contagious viruses.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Implementing on-line portals for customer facing services would reduce, if not eliminate, the need for the Department to conduct driving status services face-to-face. This will greatly reduce the possible spread of COVID-19 or other transmittable diseases or contagious viruses, keeping both the employee and the public safer.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The statement of work will consist of developing an on-line portal to be sued by any Oklahoma citizen to apply for a temporary or permanent disability placard. The project performance will be measured by acceptance of business rules, configuration of the system, user accepted testing, and confirmation of the implementation of the on-line portal.
