PROJECT PURPOSE

A majority of Childcare Providers, both home and Centers, lack the business knowledge to make sound financial decisions. This would give them real life help with accounting, budgeting, hiring, onboarding, coaching, terminating, supply sourcing, insurance, systems and procedure development, staff training/retention, etc. This will allow them to view their operations through a business lens rather than just providing quality care to children. This will have a great impact on lifting the business acumen of predominately women-owned businesses that employ a higher than average female and ethnically diverse population?.

EVIDENCE

Consultant contracts have proven that after analyzing a providers finances along side procedures the average client can save over $40k per year. In the last month, we helped a large center losing $30k/month go to making a profit in 9 months. It takes expert knowledge in both childcare and business to accomplish this. We are made up of small business owners with multiple centers, Executive Directors of Large Corporate Centers, all degreed and experienced in early education.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Prior to the pandemic, childcare providers were closing at alarming rates. The pandemic only exacerbated that rate of closure. This is a Statewide issue but was devastating to both metro and rural communities, creating more childcare deserts. Many people can't work because they are unable to find childcare. This has a direct impact on economic development as companies can't expand, new companies can't find employees, and current companies can't operate at full capacity. By offering them education and coaching in business we will strengthen? the industry in all areas, including those with deserts.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Providers will attend a Small Business Institute of sessions that cover topics listed above. Instruction will be given using generic data and then applied to the providers specific data. Every child care provider can make successful changes that will increase their profit allowing them to remain open without financial burdens that normally cause their closure.
