PROJECT PURPOSE

The purpose of the project will be to rehabilitate Hobart Lake Dam. The dam is in poor or unsatisfactory condition and serves a population of 3700. The primary purpose of this dam is public water supply. The funding of up to $1 million may be utilized for technical planning, design, and construction assistance for rehabilitation activities that reduce the dam?s risk of failure and increase community preparedness.

EVIDENCE

Hobart Lake Dam has a primary purpose of public water supply and a secondary purpose of recreation. For this reason, dam name is a critical resource for the City of Hobart. Dam name is 89 years old, and its condition has declined over time. Repairs are now required that are beyond everyday operation and maintenance. Financial interventions are needed for community name to rehabilitate dam name.


POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The project would be to rehabilitate Hobart Lake Dam, which serves the City of Hobart. The pandemic has exacerbated the financial abilities of these small communities to repair their dams due to the combination of a loss of sales tax revenue from closed businesses and increased costs of materials and construction.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The community will consult with an engineering firm and the OWRB to complete the proposed project. The project performance will be measured by the improvement in the condition rating of the dam, and therefore the reduction of risk to downstream communities and water customers.
