PROJECT PURPOSE
This program will provide operational funding for key advocacy and emergency shelter services for rural and underserved victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
EVIDENCE
The CDC shows domestic violence intervention services are key to the immediate and long-term prevention of future violence. This makes a healthier and safer state and community. We also follow all best practice advocacy models and service recommendations from NNEDV and other state and national voices like VOCA, FVPSA and VAWA.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
This funding would support victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking and their children. National statistics show that the COVID 19 Pandemic caused rates and severity of violence to nearly double. This put already vulnerable Oklahomans in higher danger of harm and lethality. Law enforcement departments in our area are reporting double their usual sexual assault calls. Our program's service area also hosts reservation to 10 Native American tribes, which are at a 2.5 times higher risk of being victim of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our rural area gives victims very limited safe places to escape abuse, many seeking refuge in our 24/7 emergency shelter.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
We track key performance indicators from client/service numbers in our database. We also provide a survey to all clients in order to collect client feedback and self reported assessments on personal progress.
