PROJECT PURPOSE

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) access control system requires hardware upgrades to replace aging hardware, as well as updating to a more robust encryption protocol for badge readers. This system controls physical access and security to all DPS facilities. Failure to upgrade this system may result in elevated risk to the integrity and safety of facilities and the personnel therein.

EVIDENCE

The hardships on manpower have created the need to be able to remotely monitor and and speak to members of the public approaching DPS facilities. Additionally, the risk of power outages currently causes exterior doors to become unlocked and without sufficient presence, this poses a risk to State assets and creates a vulnerability to secure data.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

One of the primary benefits of this project will be to add an intercom system with video and audio capabilities that ensure citizens approaching DPS facilities receive the necessary attention and care and reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 or other communicable diseases and viruses.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The statement of work consists of installing intercoms, replacing magnetic locks on all exterior doors, and upgrading card readers and system hardware with modern equipment. The measurement will be acceptance of installation, configurations, licensing, and confirmation of system operation.
