PROJECT PURPOSE

Oklahoma has a childcare crisis both for parents and the economy of Oklahoma. The lack of quality care has led to a reduction in the workforce and been detrimental to the employment opportunities of Oklahoman parents. The wait for childcare can be between several months to several years. In most US families, fewer than one-in-three children today have a full-time, stay-at-home parent. In 1975, only a generation ago, more than half of all children had a stay-at-home parent. Because of the growing number of women in the work force who have small children and an ever-increasing number of single-parent homes, as well as a marked shift in parental preference toward more structured, education-based child care environments, the demand for high quality, education-based child care programs is increasing. We are in the process of developing and opening our first Kiddie Academy® Franchise to be located at 430 E Covell Rd, Edmond, OK 73034. Currently we are in the process of awarding our construction contract and training aspects of the development process. As a direct result of COVID supply chain shortages and large workloads with general contractors, the economics of opening our school are on the verge of becoming economically unviable.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The COVID 19 pandemic has placed a financial burden on childcare providers and continues to result in school closures and new project suspensions / cancelations. Staffing shortages and long wait times for access to quality programs have been driven by a lack of focus on the necessity of childcare in today?s work environment and years of undervalued work by these professionals. ?Parents who already had limited options for affordable, high quality childcare before the pandemic are facing even fewer options today. This, in turn, is keeping parents, particularly mothers, out of the workforce?hindering the country?s and Oklahoma?s economic recovery. Childcare currently exists in a precarious state, and our families, children and communities can?t wait any longer for change.? Childcare Aware of America

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

A schedule has been created to measure the timeline from Contract Award to Certificate of Occupancy (COO). This schedule will be updated once the General Contractor is selected in the coming weeks. The schedule will be the primary method of assessing initial project performance. Once open, targets have been established for enrollment and onboarding of teachers. These will be tracked by the owners for purposes of reporting and measuring project performance.
