PROJECT PURPOSE
Provide water, sewer, and stormwater management for waterfront development on the Oklahoma River to expand active open space with destination venues as continued implementation of the Canadian River Development Plan adopted by the City in 2007.
EVIDENCE
Several areas of the Oklahoma River have been developed with tremendous success by activating the waterfront and its environs with venues for visitors and local tourists and athletes. Waterfront development with the City and its partners has a decades-long proven track record creating revenue and value to the community. As with other revitalization efforts across OKC, the provision of infrastructure has consistently triggered the desired follow-on development.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The provision of public, active open space is a community benefit that is especially enjoyed by low- to mid-income families. Planned improvements will benefit the low- to moderate-income neighborhoods in close proximity, which need additional amenities.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
Installation of water, sewer and stormwater mains will meet Oklahoma City Water Utilities Trust (OCWUT) and Public Works' standards and will meet the expenditure deadline of Dec 31, 2026. Additional private development catalyzed will be quantified using building permit data. Visitation to future passive or active recreation and commercial sites can also be measured.
