PROJECT PURPOSE
The purpose of the project will be to rehabilitate the wastewater treatment plant lagoons serving the city of New Cordell. The existing lagoon system is in poor condition and serves a population of over 3,000. The existing aeration system is inadequate to treat the wastewater prior to discharging to the environment. Rehabilitation of the treatment system will enhance the effluent quality of the facility. Cordell has existing debt due to recent water system upgrades necessary to satisfy drinking water standards and to remove a DEQ consent order. The city?s current debt, limits our ability to finance projects through traditional loan programs, and the loss of tax revenues from closed business associated with the pandemic has exacerbated the financial ability of the City to repair the lagoon system on it's own.
