PROJECT PURPOSE

Transitional Living facilities for Youth released from other Treatment programs

EVIDENCE

Youth often fail placement when they have to return to a less than stable home. This program will better prepare youth to reenter communities even under less than ideal situations. Youth will be taught coping skills that will allow them to overcome temptations to resume activities which caused their out of home placement. "Findings from the Transitional Living Program Youth Outcomes Study" conducted for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services shows an improvement in employment and earnings while attending a transitional living program.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Treatment programs and other resources have seen disruption from COVID-19 especially in rural areas. The transitional program will better equipment youth to reenter their communities after this program. We expect a 20% to 30% improvement in successful reintegration targeting youth that would otherwise have difficulty succeeding. This program will help protect the significant investment in youth that have spent time in residential placement

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Programmatic Data will be collected through OJA's Juvenile On-line Tracking system. Success will be measured by comparing recidivism rates for youth in this program compared to baseline of similar youth who did not have these services. Youth transitioning from group homes and facilities where COVID has caused a disruption in their home situation will make a difficult situation untenable. This transition program will greatly improve youth's successful reintegration into their community.
