PROJECT PURPOSE
The proposed project would replace a Sanitary Sewer Interceptor to increase the reliability of the sewer system. As the gravity concrete line has aged in the Elm Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor, the pipe material has deteriorated with corrosion and major repairs have been required in recent years to keep it in commission. As pipe failures are increasing, staff has concerns pertaining to the environment, as well as the safety of the employees. The project includes replacing approximately 5,230 linear feet of eighteen (18)? concrete pipe with twenty (20)? PVC pipe. The original Elm Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor was built in 1975. The existing eighteen (18)? concrete line provides sanitary sewer service for approximately 1,715 acres of commercial, single family and multi-family development.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The existing Elm Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor provides sewer system to commercial properties, single family houses, and multi family development. Residents who live and work in this area have been impacted from the pandemic over the last two years. A major sewer outage would cause these businesses to close, leaving employees out of work.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
The measure of performance for this project would be an increase in the reliability of the sewer system. A reduction in the number of repairs required in this area of the sewer system will be an indicator of the success of the project.
