PROJECT PURPOSE

The program goal is to preserve four historical landmarks by the 100 year anniversary of Route 66, which are located in downtown Bristow. And to create a outdoor cultural arts display of the Vic Payne "Eagle Catcher" statue. The landmarks are: 1. Town Square - renovating this property is the cornerstone of the Bristow Strategic Plan developed with area wide input under the leadership of Kell Kelly. Town Square is located in the heart of Bristow and is used by numerous local civic groups and tourists. 2. Train Depot - repair and paint the 1923 train depot. 3. Frisco water tower - restore the 1929 steam engine water towers, one of only two remaining on the historic Frisco rail lines. 4. Chrysler / Plymouth sign - relight the iconic 102 foot tall neon sign which has been dark since the 1950's.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The poverty rate in our area is 29.2% with approximately 28% of our residents living on less than $25,000 annually. Our high school graduation rate is 6% lower than state average and we are a mixed workforce of both white and blue collar jobs. Many of our residents lost jobs during the pandemic due to business downturns. Especially hard hit were young people and the elderly, however, our unemployment rate is 2% lower than the US average because our residents want to work. We are excited about this project because it will bring in tourism, additional jobs, and help grow our community pride. Bristow wants to become a destination rather than a drive through community. We truly believe that a rising tide floats all boats and we are a community that works together to help each other and our community improve. Your investment in our community will be life-changing for our residents of all ages. We appreciate your consideration of our project!

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Project performance will be measured against: 1. The project schedule. The project has tasks and milestones planned across a multi-year schedule on a monthly basis, with the critical path clearly identified. 2. The budget plan. Spending will be projected through the life of the project, and validated on a monthly basis. Pairing task completions with actual spending demonstrates value received for expenditures, which is a key indicator of the project performance. Also, we will require early identification of potential issues and risks, along with defined contingencies and/or mitigations., as critical to managing the project execution.
