PROJECT PURPOSE

12&12, Inc is a comprehensive addiction / mental health treatment center. The mission operates several inpatient and outpatient programs including medically supervised detoxification, intensive residential treatment levels of care. The organization has Joint Commission accreditation and ODMHSAS and CMS certification and contracting. This project is designed to provide the organization with the "tools" necessary to simultaneously treat the epidemic of addiction / mental health and the pandemic during the treatment episode via enhanced retention capabilities. The best health outcomes are achieved for Oklahoman's when they are able to successfully access the level of care needed and the organization is able to retain them throughout the treatment episode.

EVIDENCE

2020 and 2021 were unprecedented years of uncertainty, stress and isolation. Healthy Minds Oklahoma and others warn of increased alcoholism, addiction and deteriorating mental health. Accessing and then completing treatment is critical to achieving a successful health outcome. This project supports client retention in treatment during the pandemic.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

According to recently published CDC information, Mental health/Substance Abuse conditions are disproportionately affecting specific populations, especially young adults, Hispanic persons, black persons, native American persons, essential workers, unpaid caregivers for adults, and those receiving treatment for preexisting psychiatric conditions. 12&12 provides addiction/mental health services to all Oklahoma population groups. Specifically, 12&12 services are mostly delivered to persons who reside in qualified census tracts.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

12&12 monitors client discharges including "scheduled" and "unscheduled" discharges in each inpatient program. Client retention is a vital component of successful outcomes. Effective COVID protocols require; testing, masks, PPE, client isolation or quarantine when necessary. This project funds our ability to effectively treat and retain inpatient services during the pandemic. Data collection will happen through internal departmental staff processes including medical, clinical therapist, case managers, and administration professionals including compliance.
