PROJECT PURPOSE

The requested funding would be designed to help the Oklahoma Rural Broadband Expansion Council determine how to use federal funding to expand broadband capability throughout Oklahoma. More specifically it would allow the Department of Commerce to effectively create and continuously update a mapping system that depicts resources, broadband coverage, connectivity speeds and other features as relevant to the Council. This would allow for mapping and continuous update of broadband data for a five year period.

EVIDENCE

The broadband map would provide current data to show the broadband capabilities for the entire state and would be key for the Council to determine how to use other funds that could be used to actually decide how to use funds to improve broadband

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

People who are either unserved or underserved with regard to broadband access would ultimately benefit from the program since the mapping would be used to determine where the greatest needs are to improve broadband service.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Project performance would be measured by the State having a useable map with all data sources that would allow the Council to determine how to use other funds for broadband expansion.
