PROJECT PURPOSE

City Wide Automated Meter Replacement Program. This will replace meters, many of which are slow, or dead with better technology going from manual read to automated read meters. New meters will save the city in lost water revenue, workers comp and labor. Automated meters will also improve employee safety.

EVIDENCE

Bethany is working with meters that haven't been changed out since the early 1990's and many are older than that. These meters are often slow or dead and difficult for employees to manually read. This results in both utility water loss and revenue loss. This would also sve the city money on fuel, maintenance and vehicles. Also, hiring is becoming more difficult this would be a much more desirable job with automated meters.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Most citizens were impacted by the pandemic. This project will impact those most vulnerable populations including children, elderly, poor and those who rely on water for medical needs.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

This program will be measured upon successful installation, reading and billing of meters through an automated process and upon notifying OKARPA for grant close out.
