PROJECT PURPOSE
To bring the Town of Porter into compliance with issued Consent Orders by both immediately reducing the DBP levels and also by creating an improved storage and distribution system following DEQ guidelines which will be able to maintain the required levels for the life of the system which provides water to Porter and several surrounding communities.
EVIDENCE
The Town has received a Notice of Violation from ODEQ for exceedances of byproducts, THMs, and HA5s and is under consent order to meet water quality standards from the ODEQ.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The Town of Porter water system supports another small community, the Town of Tullahassee, with Porter relying mostly on the water system and sales revenue. Revenues were majorly impacted during the pandemic, as people were sick or unable to work, pay bills or make purchases.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
The Town has contracted an engineer to design, engineer and complete the project and DEQ is currently collecting water quality data throughout the system.
