PROJECT PURPOSE
The Oklahoma Department of Corrections has a very aged computing platform. Many of our computers across the agency at Windows 7 models were new more than thirteen years ago. This project would move the agency onto an affordable thin client model which also supports a more web-based application service and moves away from local computing. (ODOC Tracking #202111-007 submitted by Mike Carpenter, Chief of Technology Services)
EVIDENCE
Data security, computing ability, and employee health are directly impacted by the aged computing platform. In many cases, our computers are well past the service and support that is an accepted three years in the industry.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
Currently, services to inmates, their families, employees, and management is severely hampered by the lack of proper computers to use.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
Improvements in computing speed would be self-evident. The project measurement will be measured in training provided and computers placed.
