PROJECT PURPOSE
The City of Pauls Valley would like to implement a citywide nuisance abatement program. The City's Beautification Board has spent many hours identifying properties that are dilapidated and unsafe. The funds would be used for the demolition and clean up of said properties. The properties include the City's old water plant as well as many vacant home and industrial facilities throughout the town.
EVIDENCE
These dilapidated properties are unsafe, affect neighboring property values and contribute to lawless activity. The cleanup of these properties will make these areas safer, more valuable, easier to maintain and help beautify the area.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The loss of revenue and reduction of services due to the pandemic have made it difficult for the City to continue maintaining and enforcing the maintenance of these properties. Most of these properties are in low income neighborhoods, elderly neighborhoods and are in an AE flood zone. These factors make it difficult for the citizens of the affected neighborhoods to clean up the properties themselves.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
The Beautification Board will provide a list of properties and Code Enforcement will work closely with the City Clerk and City Manager to hire the contractors and track demolition progress and financial data.
