PROJECT PURPOSE

WLMCD provides water for the cities of Comanche, Duncan, Lawton, Temple, Walters and Waurika. WLMCD is in the (very) unique position where it owns all the incoming power lines, 3 industrial size substations and power distribution lines. The power handled is 69,000 volts and 4,60 volts. These lines, poles and substations are approaching 50 years old and the normal life is 30 to 40 years old. We have repaired, patched and filled woodpecker holes to date. It is time to replace. Installation of this project will help to assure water supply for at least the next 50 years.

EVIDENCE

WLMCD has 3 large pumphouses. The 69,000 volt systems power them. The power poles are aging. All other power suppliers (PSO, Cotton Electric) proactively replace poles and substations. We are doing the same.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

This project will enable continued water supply to Comanche, Duncan, Lawton-Ft Sill, Temple, Walters and Waurika. Failure to do this project could result in loss of water supply which would have short and long term impacts.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The project will be specified by an engineer, competitively bid per the state bidding act, installed with a competent inspector The process will be similar to the WLMCD dredging which was under budget
