PROJECT PURPOSE
Our water district needs a new intake dock and pump system, second membrane filtration system, and new valves throughout the district. The need for these large pieces of infrastructure are becoming increasingly emergent as the age and deteriorating condition of the original system becomes increasingly worse.
EVIDENCE
Our engineering company will validate the necessity of this project considering the drastic disrepair of the current system, especially the intake dock.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
While the system was already in some disrepair, we incurred more usage during the pandemic due to customers fleeing more populated areas in an effort to avoid the virus, putting a more consistent strain on an already stressed system. In addition, the winter storm of February 2021 caused us to have to shut down our system to replace all of the filters in the one membrane system we do have because they stopped working.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
We have retained an engineering company to collect data and create proper planning for the project. We will also be required to seek approval through the US Corps of Engineers and the Department of Environmental Quality.
