PROJECT PURPOSE

Imagine every student in the state of Oklahoma has a front-row seat to the best teachers regardless of location and socioeconomic status. MultiVRsity uses virtual reality to democratize access to quality education in Oklahoma. Through MultiVRsity, students can learn anywhere in a way that is engaging, immersive, and cutting edge. Our state is currently experiencing many hardships in the field of education which are causing us to fall behind other states. By investing in immersive learning now, Oklahoma will become a global leader using teaching methods that will soon be commonplace in the classroom. COVID-19 has intensified the need for online learning across Oklahoma. Since 2020, we have witnessed how behind our State is in terms of digital education, access, and resources. With the legislators? new focus on rural broadband and overcoming Oklahoma?s deficits in digital learning, MultiVRsity is poised to expand quality education through a 21st Century virtual platform.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

It is evident the pandemic widened pre-existing achievement and opportunity gaps, affecting historically disadvantaged students the hardest. The cumulative effects of the pandemic could have a long-term impact on an entire generation of students. Given that this generation of students will spend 35 to 40 years in the workforce, the cumulative impact of COVID-19 on learning over their lifetimes could far exceed the investments that are being made today. All students in Oklahoma should have access to Oklahoma?s best teachers. MultiVRsity creates a scalable solution for all children to be in a virtual classroom with the best teachers across the state. For years, our best teachers were limited to small groupings of students within small geographical constructs. MultiVRsity breaks down physical structures and expands the classroom statewide. The ARPA funding can mitigate the impact of educational gaps through a one-time investment of $3 million dollars.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

MultiVRsity will conduct online surveys and hire Oklahoma-based college students to conduct phone interviews to measure project performance. We are also prepared to conduct educational studies using control groups and experimental groups that can provide insights into our technology?s effectiveness. We will measure categories using a performance framework that encompasses participation, user experience, and scalability.
