PROJECT PURPOSE

Establish new walking path through Alabaster Caverns to replace walkway covered by partial cave collapse several years ago. Cave visitation has decreased due to limited access to caverns. New walkway would increase visitation and revenue.

EVIDENCE

Park visitation has decreased steadily over the past three years since the partial collapse occurred.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Alabaster Caverns State Parks is located near Freedom, OK, a small community that depends on the tourism brought to the are by the park.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

OTRD has a capital projects team that executes projects and tracks expenditures to ensure projects are completed efficiently within budget.
