PROJECT PURPOSE

THE LONE GROVE WATER TRUST AUTHORITY IS REQUESTING FUNDS TO EXTEND NEW SEWER SERVICE LINES TO OUR INDUSTRIAL ZONED PROPERTIES. NEW LINES WOULD ELIMINATE THE ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS OF INDUSTRIAL WATER RUN OFF. CURRENTLY THERE ARE NO EXISTING SEWER LINES IN BUSINESS THAT OPERATE AS MARIJUANA PRODUCTION COMPANIES THESE BUSINESS REQUIRE LARGE SUMS OF WATER TO OPERATE. THE CONCERN IS WHETHER THE INDIVIDUAL SEPTIC SYSTEMS ARE ADEQUATE ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE DISPOSAL FOR THE VOLUME OF WASTERWATER BEING EMMITTED. STATE FUNDING WOULD ALLOW INDUSTRIAL BUSINESS IN THE AREA TO TIE INTO THE LINES AND WASTEWATER BE REMOVED AND TREATED SAFELY IN OUR WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY, ELIMATING ANY HAZARDOUS S EFFECTS TO THE ENVIRONMENT. MARIJUANA WASTERWATER CAN CONTAIN PHOSPHATES AND NITROGEN THAT CAN BE HARMFUL NOT ONLY TO THE NATURAL BODIES OF WATER, AQUATIC ANIMALS, AND AGRICULTRUAL PROPERTY, BUT CAN ALSO EFFECT THE WATER TABLE IF LONG TERM EFFECT OCCUR. IT IS CRUCIAL FOR THE TRUST AUTHORITY TO MAINTAIN THE DISPOSAL AND TREATMENT OF THIS WASTEWATER IN A SAFE AND MONITORED ENVIRONMENT.

EVIDENCE

THE AMOUNT OF WATER BEING USED IN THE INDUSTRIAL AREA IS FAR GREATER THAN WHAT THE INDIVIDUAL SEPTIC SYSTEM IS CAPABLE OF STORING. WASTEWATER THAT ISN'T BEING STORED SUCURELY IN SEPTIC STORAGES CAN SEEP IN THE GROUND AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURROUNDING SOIL, NATURAL WATER BODIES, AND PLANT LIFE. AN ADJOING PROPERTY OWNER TO THE INDUSTRIAL AREA RECENTLY NOTIFIED THE DEPT. OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY OF ALGAE BLOOMS IN HIS POND. THESE BLOOMS STARTED OCCURRING ONLY AFTER THE MARIJUANA BUSINESS STARTED PRODUCTION. IS IT IMPORTANT FOR THE WATER TRUST AUTHORITY TO INSTALL NEW SEWER LINES TO SECURE THE SAFETY OF WASTEWATER DISPOSAL IN OUR CITY.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

AGRICULTURAL ZONED PROPETRIES ARE VULNERABLE TO THE WASTEWATER RUN OFF NEAR THE MARIJUANA PRODUCTION BUSINESS. THIS MEANS THAT ANIMALS, FARM LAND AND PONDS CAN BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY THE PRODUCTS IN THE RUN OFF. BECAUSE OF THE PHOSPHATES, PESTICIDES AND CONCENTRATED PLANT PRODUCTS IN THE RUN OFF, SOIL AND PLANTS CAN BE DAMAGED AS NATURAL BODIES OF WATER HAVING INCREASING ALGAE BLOOM THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO AQUATIC LIFE. AFTER INSTALLING NEW SEWER LINES AND ELIMINATING THE RUN OFF FROM THESE REGIONS OUR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IS PROVIDE TO THE LOCAL FARMER AND AGRICULTURAL PROPERTIES. ALONG WITHTHE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION THE NEW LINES PROVIDE, THE CITY WILL BENEFIT FROM INCREASE REVENUE TO PROVIDE MORE NEW SEWER LINES TO OTHER AREA IN OUR CITY. WE CURRENTLY PROVIDE SEWER TO LESS THAN 50% OF RESIDENCE AND BUSINESS.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

THE MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE WILL BE SHOWN IN THE INCREASE OF WASTEWATER INTAKE AT THE TREATMENT FACILITY. THERE ARE AN APPROXIMATELY 50 BUSINESS IN THE INDUSTRIAL ZONED AREA THAT WOULD HOOK UP TO OUR NEW SEWER LINES AND THE VOLUNM OF WASTEWATER BEING PROCESSED AND RENEWED WITH IN FACILITY WILL BE EVIDENT. OUR WASTEWATER PLANT CAN PERFORM AT A MORE THAN DOUBLE THE CAPACITY WE ARE CURRENTLY OPERATING.
