PROJECT PURPOSE

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic our hospital has been searching how to expand our hospital to treat more patients when a medical surge takes place. Our most current plan/need is to move our entire Labor and Delivery, NICU II and Women's and Children's Services from the main hospital floors to our McMahon Tower. This would prevent our expecting mothers from being as exposed to possible COVID cases and would allow birthing and pre pregnancy monitoring to happen all in the same location. The Joint Comission has issued several alerts regarding the importance of OB postpartum emergency care.

EVIDENCE

The Joint Comission has issued a variety of alerts on the importance of Obstetrics and Gynecology being separate from the rest of the hospital. Especially with the new fear of COVID-19.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

These are our expecting families and our smallest patients that need both prenatal care and postpartum care. We are the largest regional hospital in Southwest Oklahoma and the only Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that we partner with OU Children's to facilitate.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The project will be measured on the number of patients and babies that come through the McMahon Towers either for OB care, birthing or post partum care.
