PROJECT PURPOSE

The city of Wynnewood is in desperate need of a new city hall and a new police department. The city employees have been housed in a downtown building that is not conducive for city hall business due asbestos, mold and flooding. During Covid citizens were having to pay through a drop box to do contactless transactions and most of our citizens pay by cash. We currently rent the building and cannot do renovations to accommodate the city hall business. The current police department has been condemned for asbestos and mold, but the city has not had the funding to remediate the building. We would use the funding to purchase a lot and to build a city hall and police department together which would accommodate Wynnewood's aging population and be able to adapt to future events and pandemics.

EVIDENCE

The city hall that we are not able to use was flooded and contractors along with mold and asbestos experts rendered the building inhabitable, therefor we moved to a rental space, which is not functionable but the only available space. The police department is in a similar situation where mold and asbestos experts have rendered the building inhabitable due to lack of available office buildings there are no other options for them to move.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The citizens of Wynnewood have been impacted both by loss of oilfield jobs and therefore loss of revenue due to the pandemic. Also, Wynnewood households are primarily below poverty level, and the city does not want to impose more taxes on an already hurting community.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The engineers and contractors will be required to provide a project timeline with milestone updates once a month and submit any variance from the original project scope to council. In addition, the city clerk will provide quarterly updates to the US Treasury.
