PROJECT PURPOSE
The Norman Fire Department believes a new training tower facility would be eligible as a first responder infrastructure project under ARPA. This would be a structure that would sit on County land within the City of Norman located at 12th Ave. N.W. and Franklin Road. We would be able to use the facility for training exercises and recruit academies and the County will be able to use the facility once they establish a fire training program at the vo-tech. This would be a great partnership. They estimate the total cost could be 4.5 to 5 million dollars. Our current tower needs to be replaced and the current location is in the way of all the projects under construction at North Base. This new location would work well for both the City and County.
EVIDENCE
? Training is required in public safety. This facility will help streamline and deliver quality service. The residents within the City, County and beyond would benefit from this project.
POPULATION DESCRIPTION
? The whole community including every demographic will benefit from this program. At some point, every person will need assistance from public safety providers in their community. We will be able to deliver the best service possible with the addition of this facility. It will also help us cross train with our automatic and mutual aid partners to more efficiently mitigate large scale events. This facility will also help future first responders train for the profession.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
? Training objectives will be assessed and outcomes critiqued. We will continue to train until tactically sound. Training Officers will assess progress and provide technical expertise.
