PROJECT PURPOSE

Renovation of nature center facilities, exhibits, signage and outdoor classrooms to allow for improved interpretive/educational exhibits, in partnership with other agencies. Project would include actions to improve ability to social distance and offer "no-touch" restroom facilities.

EVIDENCE

Park visitation has increased 2.5 million over the last year, causing increased demand for interpretive programming. Nature centers are undersized and unequipped to manage the increased demand and crowding in facilities.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Park visitors at most parks are Oklahomans from surrounding rural communities, many of which are low-income. Improved interpretive and educational facilities within parks will offer more options for visitors, as well as educational institutions, for education in science and natural resources.
