PROJECT PURPOSE

The NEWDB proposes to launch the Recovery Act Works Program that will target vulnerable populations impacted by COVID, comprised of low-income communities, people of color and tribal communities, women, as well as individuals who are unemployed or underemployed due to the pandemic or the resulting recession, or who were already unemployed when the pandemic began and remain so due to the negative economic impacts of the pandemic, or have experienced increased food or housing insecurity or low-or moderate-income experienced negative economic impacts resulting from the pandemic and will include assistance to households, businesses and nonprofits.

EVIDENCE

Although the pandemic?s impacts have been widespread, both the public health and economic impacts of the pandemic have fallen disproportionately on disadvantaged communities and populations before it began. The full proposal includes data analysis.


POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The NEWDB proposes to serve residents and businesses in the NE Workforce Development Area: Craig, Delaware, Nowata, Mayes, Ottawa, Rogers and Washington Counties. The NEWDB will create meaningful short term employment opportunities with community businesses and nonprofits and will prioritize businesses and nonprofits disproportionately impacted by the pandemic
