OKLAHOMANS PROJECTED TO BENEFIT
ESTIMATED PROJECT DURATION
more than 24 months
Construction of wastewater treatment plant and sewer lines to serve Beavers Bend State Park and Hochatown area.
Entire Beavers Bend/ Hochatown area currently served by septic and sewer lagoons. Current wastewater treatment methods are limiting future growth of an important tourism area and are negatively impacting water sources.
McCurtain County has a median household income of $37,061, 30% lower than Oklahoma's median household income. The poverty rate is 22%. Explosive growth in tourism over the last decade has 15% of workforce employed in tourism-related jobs. This growth is being stunted by the lack of wastewater infrastructure.
Work with local communities, major stakeholders and relevant state agencies to identify service needs, service area and funding contributions. Develop and execute project as consortium of stakeholders.
