PROJECT PURPOSE

Restoration of the 229 structures built by the CCC in Oklahoma's original seven state parks, including cabins, nature centers, bridges, community buildings, residences, and smaller structures. Structures were built in the 1930s and many are seriously dilapidated and in danger of being lost. CCC history and architecture are drivers for park tourism.

EVIDENCE

The park system's CCC structures are approaching 100 years of age. Many need serious renovation in order to prevent total loss of the structures.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Oklahoma's state parks are in rural communities, most of which are low-income. Improvements to the parks will spur increased visitation, which generates increased economic activity in these communities.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

OTRD has a capital projects team that manages the agency's construction projects. We will utilize an existing design-build contract to implement ARPA-funded capital projects. OTRD would work closely with the Historical Society to ensure renovations were to historic preservation standards.
